Meet rewarded designer Iines Jakovlev and join us at Ornamo office or online! Get familiar with her unique work combining bio-based solutions and material research. This open meeting is hosted by Ornamo Responsibility Circle.

Are you interested or working in the areas of sustainability, responsibility or transition design? In this meeting, our guest speaker will be designer Iines Jakovlev, the recent recipient of The Ornamo Award 2024 Encouragement Prize.

This time, our guest speaker will be designer Iines Jakovlev, the recent recipient of the Ornamo Award Encouragement Prize.

Iines will join us in person at the Ornamo office, bringing material samples and resources from her award-winning thesis. In her thesis, Jakovlev explores the dimensions of biomimetic design while investigating new fiber plants from local nature and roadside environments. Her work emphasizes the importance of bio-based and ecological solutions and material research in the future of design.

This member-based meeting is for all designers, interested or working in the areas of sustainability, responsibility or transition design. Join us for a Members’ evening at Ornamo office and online.

Iines Jakovlev

Iines Jakovlev holds a Master’s degree in Arts from Aalto University. She lives and works in the Meri-Lappi region. Iines has her own garden, where she grows traditional utility plants alongside dye plants and fibers such as flax, and she is also experimenting with corn.

Currently, her areas of interest include traditional crafts, their materials, and techniques. She is excited about new techniques and owns, for example, lace-making tools, two spinning wheels, and three looms. She is interested in using new, experimental materials in traditional techniques, as well as working with traditional materials in innovative ways.
